Hello,

We hope this letter finds you well. We are Erica, Seth, Sam, and Miles from the Chestnut and Headwaters sections, and we’re thrilled to share the highlights of our incredible adventures this summer.

For the first time in Camp Temagami history, our groups embarked on a groundbreaking six-week journey through a route that hadn’t been explored by us before. Our expedition took us through the breathtaking Otish Mountains and along the Eastmain and Peribonka Rivers in northern Quebec. The journey was filled with amazing experiences, from navigating challenging whitewater to paddling through fast-moving rivers and serene lakes. Over the course of 36 days, our sections traveled a few days apart, providing support and comfort as we explored new regions.

In the Chestnut section, our campers faced a mix of upstream and downstream travel, conquering small ponds, creeks, and a very VERY large lake. We also embarked on steep hikes and enjoyed the bounty of wild blueberries, transforming into a resilient and cohesive team along the way. It was incredibly rewarding to witness our campers’ growth, both physically and mentally, as they formed unbreakable friendships.

Meanwhile, the Headwaters section shared a similar adventure, bonding over the course of their journey and mastering some impressive whitewater. Miles’s favorite part of the trip was watching his seven campers and co-guides come together in a beautiful way, with the route unfolding smoothly as everyone supported one another.

As both groups traveled just a few days apart, our combined journey was a testament to the spirit of Camp Temagami—an exploration of new paths and the forging of lifelong connections. We had a fantastic summer and are already looking forward to next year. We hope many of you will join us for another unforgettable adventure, whether as campers or guides. By trusting in the process and having the courage to try, we believe you’ll go far.

We paddled flat calm lakes, through white caps, portaged for kilometers, and were at the mercy of mother nature, but saying goodbye at the end of this trip was one of the most difficult things we did. Spoiler alert: tears were shed.

Each and every one of you was a valued member of our sections, and added colour to our adventures.

Thank you for sharing in our journey. We can’t wait to see you next summer!

Warm regards,

The Staff of the Six Week Super Sections
