Dumoine River to the Ottawa!

Hey Fam,

I’m still grinning from ear to ear as I think about our incredible 22-day journey this summer. As the head guide for the Grey Owl section, I was lucky enough to share this adventure with my co-staff Tristan and our fantastic campers – Thomas, Colson, Sergei, and Oliver. We explored the breathtaking Dumoine River and surrounding lakes, and I’m still pinching myself! Not only was this a first for me, but also a first for Tristan, and we could not have explored this area without the amazing support from these boys!

We started our trip paddling through a series of smaller, yet stunning, lakes that left us all in awe. The crystal-clear waters and picturesque scenery made every paddle stroke a joy. Everyone pushed so hard because of their excitement to reach rapids, but the calm lakes will always hold a place in my heart. We made great time, eager to reach the Dumoine River and tackle its exciting rapids. And tackle them we did! Our team navigated the rapids with skill and enthusiasm, and we were all blown away by the beauty of the Grand Chute Falls. We also enjoyed a fantastic hike to see the Bald Eagle, which offered a bird’s eye view of the river below.

But it wasn’t just the big moments that made our trip special – it was the quiet ones too. I’ll always treasure the memories of sharing dinner and stories around the campfire each night. Getting to know each other, swapping tales of the day’s adventures, and supporting one another through highs and lows created unbreakable bonds.

Our Grey Owl section had an unforgettable experience, and I’m already looking forward to next summer’s escapades. Thank you to my incredible team for making this trip so special. These boys are hungry for more white water, and hopefully next year we’ll be able to give them plenty!

Until then

Best,

Leah
