Session Three Wigwasati: Paddlin’ Obabika

2024, Section Letters

Paddlin’ Obabika

Kids on dock with paddles and life jackets

Hey Everyone,

It’s Fiona from Camp Temagami. This session I had the privilege of guiding four amazing young ladies through Obabika on a nine-day canoe trip.

We enjoyed silly scavenger hunts, cooked delicious meals over an open fire, shared fun bedtime stories, and paddled through some of the most beautiful regions of Temagami. Each moment brought us closer together and deepened our appreciation for the great outdoors.

My favorite part of the trip was witnessing the passion these girls adopted for canoe tripping and the incredible strength they demonstrated through hard paddling days and tough portages. Their resilience and enthusiasm were truly inspiring, and they’ve certainly all earned the title of “tipper”s. These women are well on their way to becoming stewards of the land and really took to heart the “leave no trace” mentality.

We had an amazing trip and can’t wait to see you all next summer for more adventures and unforgettable experiences.

Take care and see you soon,

Fiona
