Session Three Ojibwae: The Trout Streams

2024, Section Letters

The Trout Streams

Group of friends outdoors by a lake.

Hi Everyone,

Leah from Camp Temagami. I just wanted to share a bit about the trip we just had. This summer, our group from the Ojibwae section ventured to the south branch of the Lady Evelyn River. It was an incredible journey, covering 105 km with some challenging portages, but it was all worth it.

Our route was filled with breathtaking sights, including several stunning waterfalls like Centre Falls, Shangri La, Bridal Veil, and Frank Falls. The natural beauty we encountered was absolutely gorgeous and made every moment special. The trout streams are a non-stop delight, as every portage leads you around stunning waterfalls. Despite the tough portions of the trip, the group overcame them together, which was truly beautiful to see. Some of the portages are truly technical, but by taking our time, going slow, and savoring each moment we prevailed!

My favorite part of the trip was witnessing the strong friendships that were forged in such a short time. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together and support each other, creating bonds that will last a lifetime. We had such a fantastic time, and I really hope everyone comes back next summer for more adventures.

I can’t wait to see where their tripping futures take them!

Take care and see you soon,

Leah
