To the Sand Dunes and Beyond

Hey everyone,

Will from Camp Temagami’s Ojibwae section here! I’m excited to share our journey from session two. Our trip took an unexpected turn, but it led us to an amazing destination – the sand dunes in the north of Lady Evelyn Provincial Park!

This hidden gem is a rare find, and we felt privileged to explore it. The sheer scale of the dunes left us in awe, and we even spotted camels! Joking aside, what made this trip truly special was the relaxed and good-natured vibe of our group. Canoe trips can be challenging, but thanks to these boys this felt like one of the most straightforward trips I’ve ever led. Everyone had a great attitude and were flexible and kind when plans changed.

We spent our days fishing, fooling around, and soaking up the serene atmosphere. It was a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility. I’m grateful for the experience and the opportunity to share it with my fellow campers – Cameron, Declan, Leif, and Tatum – and our amazing staff, Eduardo and Nathan.

If you ever get the chance to visit the sand dunes, take it! It’s a truly unique experience that makes you feel like you’re on the shores of the Caribbean. I’m always blown away at the diversity of this region and cannot believe it’s taken me this long to find this spot. This will totally be on my list to visit again!

I hope to see everyone next summer, and in the meantime remember: just because things don’t go to plan, doesn’t mean you won’t find beauty along the way!

Cheers,

Will
